At the heart of our proposal was a guiding question:
How might we document significant histories, both personal and institutional, with rigour, care, and imagination?
The project was conceived as a two-part production: a written volume that traces the school’s journey through narrative and archival material, and a documentary film that captures the tacit, intergenerational knowledge embedded within the everyday living ecosystem of the Vasant Valley community.

As the documentation process began, we understood that these oral recollections surrounding institutional life, apart from being acts of remembrance, are also critical forms of knowledge. They demand careful documentation and thoughtful analysis to preserve the past and inform the future of learning communities.

At Family script, we see historicization of people and spaces not as a reductive exercise, but as a generative act: a form of production of knowledge. The aim of this project, then, was to bring together these series of oral history interviews in a way that would embrace the intersection of place, people, and philosophy.
