Memoir

The winds will blow

Reva Khanna

It began with a phone call in February 2024, an unexpected invitation into someone's life story. Within days, we found ourselves planning our first meeting, unaware of how deeply this journey would impact us. From that moment on, what unfolded was a year of layered conversations, handwritten notes, fading photographs, and hours spent tracing the shape of a life lived with grace, resilience, and quiet strength.

At the heart of our proposal was a guiding question:

If every memory is a thread, then are we not all weavers of histories, stitching displacement, joy, and reflection into a fabric that outlives us?

Through numerous oral history sessions, we listened to memories that carried the weight of history, which consisted of displacement, rebuilding, laughter, and reflection. Some stories arrived gently, others with emotion still sharp at the edges. Every object, letter, and anecdote became a thread in the fabric we were slowly weaving into a memoir.

At Family Script, we approached this process with care while balancing research, design, and storytelling to honour both truth and tenderness. The book that emerged is a tribute to the resilience of the human spirit, where personal memory meets collective history.
It stands as an archive of love, strength, and belonging, created through collaboration, trust, and an unwavering belief in the power of remembering.
