A big brother is the one who: takes care of you; doesn’t think twice before making any personal sacrifice for your benefit; does not shy away from spending even the last penny from his pocket for fulfilling your desires; does not hold any grudges against you; is always ready to be a part of your happiness and sorrows, and the list goes on and on…
Mannu Bhaiya (officially known as Tuhin Sharan) was always our big brother. He was an excellent human being, very simple, cooperative and a great sportsman.
My childhood days were spent with him. We went to the same school and played from the same cricket team. I remember him taking care of the bowling department while I took care of the batting part when we used to win matches for our team. He was very talented and was loved by all.
His command over the English language was widely known and was much appreciated. Out of his many interesting writings, one of his poems is being reproduced here in his loving memory:
Time will fly,
from the nest of the day,
Truth wont die, whatever you say
Rooted deep in clay,
Whatever you say,
& come what may,
But truth won’t die & time will fly,
From the nest of the day
Still rooted deep in the clay.
Howsoever you play,
Using all your skills,
Using all your brains,
And you become happy and gay,
Thinking that you have won.
Nature will decide about what is right,
& what is wrong,
But at the end of the day,
Truth won’t die, whatever you say.
May what you lie
& whatever you pretend,
But at the end
Time will fly.
From nest of the day,
Truth won’t die, whatever you say!
Mannu Bhaiya we all miss you very much……
